

Dickie Rae (DeMoss) Rector, 74, of Bossier City, LA passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at home after a battle with brain cancer. Born 1943 in Monroe, LA she is eldest child of the late Vinnie Emma (McLeod) and Russell Earl DeMoss.
In 1961 after graduating from Ouachita Parish High School she began work in Washington D.C. for the FBI as a fingerprint analyst. In March, 1963 she married Paul W. Rector of Clarksburg, WV on Andrews AFB, MD.
Mrs. Rector was a Charter Member of the West Virginia State Police Trooper Wives Assn. 1965-1985 whose mission is to better working conditions for all State Troopers. She was an active member of The Fort Ashby, WV Lioness Club 1975-1993.
She retired in 2000 after working 27 years as a LPN Surgical Scrub Technician in WV, MD and Louisiana Hospitals. She is a member of St. Mathews Catholic Church of Monroe, LA.
Her earlier hobbies were bowling, ceramics, calligraphy and oil painting. Being and avid reader she read the entire Harry Potter series twice. Recently Mrs. Rector began quilting and during the past two years created beautiful works of art for her immediate family and several for her Beloved Scottish Terrier, Duffy.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Rector; two sons, David Glen Rector of Phoenix, AZ and Col. Kenneth Alan Rector and wife Cheryl of Ft. Gordon, GA and two grandchildren, Chelsea L. Rector of Tucson, AZ and Dylan J. Rector of Augusta, GA are her pride and joy. She is also survived by three brothers, Russell of Bossier City, LA, Johnny and Danny of West Monroe, LA and three sisters, Dolly Daugherty of Hot Springs Village, AR, Jo Dwyer of Monroe, LA and Paula Telano of West Monroe, LA.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, 601 Hwy 80 E Haughton, LA 71037. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Please visit www.hillcrestmemorialfh.com.
