He leaves behind his beloved Mother in Law Alice Nees and his dear Aunt Vylie Gladney. There are many extended relatives, in addition to his church family at Airline Baptist Church.
Don was drafted into and retired from the united states army after serving over 20 years. Upon retireing from active duty he transitioned into long haul trucking for FFE until he lost his right leg from complications of diabetes. He was a faithful provider for his family and being forced into retirement was not what he had planned, Luckily for his family, God provided means for us to enjoy the time we had with him. The memories we want you to have of Donald are those of LAUGHTER and the joy for life he held. In spite of the physical losses he endured his spirit was bright and he could light up any room, if he chose to. It was always daddy's mission to make someone else laugh to smile, to brighten their day in some small way. Even in his last days on this Earth, he was trying to share his snacks with the people who were caring for him.
The family would like to thank all of our wonderful support systems for being there for us in our time of grief. We ask that you pray for us as we mourn the loss of such a big personality. Thank you so much to the care teams at Overton Brooks VAMC, WK Bossier and Garden Court staff that kept him with us for so long.
