Mrs. Dorothy Ann Vanderlick Hollingsworth, 94, was called home to be with her Lord, March 17, 2024 and passed away peacefully at home. Dorothy was born November 7, 1929 in Alexandria, Louisiana unto the union of Francis J. and Cecelia Vanderlick. Dorothy is the widow of John C. Hollingsworth.
Dorothy was raised in Alexandria and graduated from Providence Academy High School. After graduating high school, she went to the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana and obtained her Registered Nursing degree. She went on to a career spanning over forty-four years as an R.N. serving our veterans at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: husband, John C. Hollingsworth; father, Francis J. Vanderlick; mother, Cecelia Vanhoof Vanderlick; sister, Marie Ortega, and brothers, John Vanderlick and Norbert Vanderlick.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are: daughters, Barbara Hollingsworth, Carolyn Laskowski, Dorothy Thompson and her husband Ara, of Gladewater, TX, and Janice Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Larie Garrett and her fiancé Josh Emory, Bryan Steed and his wife Claudia, of Ossining, NY, Sara Alfred and her husband Jeremy, of Kilgore, TX, Cecilia Stacks and her husband Brandon, of Tupelo, MS, and Catherine Douglas and her husband LaQuintin; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Emily, Nick, Drew, and John Garrett; Neely and Carson Stacks; Michael Steed, Lee, Kyla, and Layla Douglas; and two brothers, Daniel Vanderlick and his wife Mary, and Walter Vanderlick and his wife Ann, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was devoted to her family. She was an avid gardener planting tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers every spring. In the summer she enjoyed swimming twice a day.
Services in her honor will begin with a Visitation between 5 pm – 6:30 pm, with a Rosary at 6:30 the evening of March 21, 2024 at Hill Crest Memorial, in Haughton. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, on March 22, 2024, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, in South Bossier Parish, with Very Rev. Msgr. Rothell Price presiding. Interment will follow within the Hill Crest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are: Josh Emory, Bryan Steed, Jeremy Alfred, Brandon Stacks, LaQuintin Douglas, and Nick Garrett. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer is Ara Thompson.
