Dorris M. Reach, of Bossier City, LA passed away at Colonial Oaks Skilled Nursing Rehab Center at the age of 86 on Monday night, June 30th, 2022, from a long illness. Her family was by her side as she left her earthly body and gained her angel wings at Heaven’s gates. A brief word prayer for Mrs. Reach will be held Sunday, July 10th, 2:00 pm, visitation will be held prior from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA.
Dorris was born September 1, 1935, to Oscar and Ethel Harris of Albany, Georgia. She worked as a dental assistant until she married her husband, Walter (Buddy) Reach, who was in the Air Force. She was a homemaker, and her greatest joys was caring for her grandchildren. During their twenty-five years in the Air Force, they were stationed in many states and countries. Her favorite was Panama Canal Zone, where she acquired the name of “Momma Reach” while attending Balboa First Baptist Church. She and her husband “Buddy Reach” chaperoned many youth choir trips to the beach and other counties with the Good News Singers. Many of those youth have stayed in touch with her through the years.
Dorris was preceded in death by: her sister, Elizabeth of Illinois; her brother, Clem of Tampa Florida: and both parents, Ethel and Oscar of Albany Georgia.
She is survived by: her daughter, Connie Patterson, and her husband Keith; son, Craig Reach and his wife Kathy; grandchildren, Rebecca Tadlock and her husband Neal, Natalie Brennan, Daniel Reach and his wife Shelby, Cindy Patterson, Spencer Reach, C.J. Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Beau Tadlock, Amelia Tadlock, Nathan Brennan, Easton Reach, Wesley Reach, Madison Reach, Colin Richey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
The family would like to thank Jayne Mackey and husband Bill (our extended family) for their love and support through many years and especially during this time. They would also like to express their appreciation to the administration and staff at Colonial Oaks Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Ted Warren, Cookie, Dr. John Brady and our church family.
