Elicia “Alice” Baker, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Christus Highland in Shreveport, Louisiana. Alice was born on July 17, 1938, in Gilliam, Louisiana, to the late Julian and Sarah Villarrial.
Alice was a quiet, gentle soul who never wanted to be a bother to anyone, but she was deeply loved by everyone who knew her. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who could always bring a smile to her face. Though she was happiest at home, once her family managed to get her out of the house, she always ended up enjoying herself and making sweet memories with those she loved.
She was known for her kind heart, her soft smile, and her giving nature—always offering to help or share what little she had. Beneath her sweet and easygoing personality, she carried a bit of sass and spunk that made her truly unforgettable.
Alice missed her beloved husband, Bobby G. Baker, dearly after his passing 24 years ago, and now they are joyfully reunited together again.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby G. Baker; two sisters, Cora Villarrial and Mary Cruz; and one brother, Julian Villarrial, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Miles Baker and Timothy Baker (Pam); four grandchildren, Edward Baker (Stephanie), Alicia Toms, Tiffany Baker Hinton (Colt), and Candace Baker (Jake); and seven great-grandchildren, Madison Baker, Marissa Toms, Trenton Baker, Grayson Baker, Stevi Hinton, Halli Hinton, and one special little great-grandbaby she was looking forward to meeting in February. She is also survived by three siblings, Tommy Villarrial (Linda), Harvey Villarrial, and Hershell Villarrial, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Springlake Nursing and Rehabilitation for the outstanding care and compassion shown to Alice throughout her time there. A special thank you goes to the therapy team, who went above and beyond to make her days brighter. Although she didn’t always love going to therapy, she truly enjoyed her therapists—and they adored her right back, lovingly referring to her as “Granny B.”
The family would like to make special mention of her granddaughter, Candace Baker, who is also a member of the Springlake therapy team. Candace lovingly cared for her Granny over the past 11 months, ensuring she was surrounded by both professional care and family love every step of the way. The kindness and devotion shown by Candace and the entire Springlake staff will never be forgotten.
The family would also like to thank the Christus Highland Emergency Department for their attentive care and professionalism during this difficult time, and to all the family and friends who have shared their prayers, love, and support.
The family will be receiving guests for visiting and sharing of Alice's memory on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana, 71037.
Inurnment will immediately take place on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
The family takes great comfort in knowing that Alice is now at peace, reunited with her beloved Bobby, and watching over all those she loved so dearly.
