Ms. Betty, Our Dear Nana

Nana was able to celebrate her 87th birthday on May first and slipped away peacefully to her Heavenly Home on May 11th. She leaves behind many who love her and will miss her; but was greeted by many she loved and missed; especially her dear husband, Jack W. Daniel whom she missed everyday for the last 20 years; her parents, Walter and Julia Ligocki; all of her brothers and sisters; and her many Bingo Buddies and dear friends from VFW Post #4588.

Saying good-bye are: her son, David Daniel; his wife, DeVena and their three sons; Jacob, Thomas and Matthew (Picayune, Mississippi;) and DeVena’s mother, our “Gra’ma E,” Mrs. Lillian Hubbard Tullis, (Cedar Bluff, Alabama.)

From Bossier City, Nana’s daughter, Heidi Daniel-Evans and her two sons; Joseph Orion Evans (Bellingham, Washington;) and Sgt Jonathan Rigel Evans (Fort Bliss, Texas) with his son and Nana’s only great-grandchild, Eathan Garrett Waller, and Nana’s granddaughter, Michelle Nicole VanWinkle. She was very proud of your many accomplishments and enjoyed listening to your stories and looking at your pictures. Nana opened her heart to many friends of Joseph and Jonathan, especially; Brian Joncas, JW Brack, Terry Wolfe (RIP,) Kevin Coffin, Michael and Brian Thomas, Steven Tidwell, Nathan Darveau, Daniel Brassfield, Michael and Eric Duddy. Thanks guys-you made Nana laugh and smile on more than one occasion!

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 – 2 p.m., also at Hillcrest.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michelle Self and her staff for their gentle care and home visits during Nana’s extended illness. A special thank you to Nana’s Guardian Angels: Michelle VanWinkle, Kristie Morgan, Amanda and Brian Lindberg, Ms. Margaret Brown (Nana’s faithful caregiver from Hospice of Shreveport/Bossier) and Mrs. Joyce Frank (Nana’s friend and companion.)

In lieu of flowers, take someone you love out to dinner and let them know how special they are to you...time is a gift with an expiration date. Remember, family is not only defined by blood and marriage, but by the love we have for each other. Nana was well-loved and loved each of you very much…and she will be there to greet us when we get there.
