Elouise was born on July 31, 1941 in Ebarb, Louisiana to George and Verna Remedes Garcie. Elouise passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, in the home she shared with her husband, Joe Williamson, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Elouise grew up in Zwolle, Louisiana and was a 1959 graduate of Ebarb High School. Joe met Elouise while she worked at Stuart’s Cafe in Zwolle, Louisiana. It was love at first sight! They married on August 10, 1960, without having ever gone on a date.
After marriage, Joe and Elouise were blessed with three children, Charles Williamson and wife Bonnie, of Benton; Sharon Eichler and husband John, of Shreveport; and Dolores Brister of Benton.
Elouise was the purchasing secretary for the Bossier Parish School Board for 30 years. Before working for the school board, she worked at TG&Y, Gibson’s Department Store, and Bossier Bank and Trust. Elouise was an avid crafter, gardener, and cook. No one visited her home and walked away hungry. She was most famous for her chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, and homemade hot tamales.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her husband, children, sister, Virginia Vines of Shreveport, LA, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers honoring their first cousin will be Joe Ebarb, Johnny Ebarb, Mike Huckaby, Jim Huckaby, Herman “Bobe” Remedies, and Todd Remedies. Serving as honorary pallbearers are grandson-in-law, Zach McConahay and grandson, Jarrett Williamson.
The family would like to thank the Amedisys Hospice group for all of the love, care, compassion and support provided for Elouise. The family expresses sincerest gratitude to CNA Ann, Chaplain Jim, Social Worker Bettye, and Nurses Lisa, Kathy, and Donna.
The family also wishes to extend special thanks for all of the love and care provided by Elouise’s sitters Katherine and Kathy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org).
