Esther Nilsen McCall

Services for Mrs. Esther Nilsen McCall, 78, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Randy Harper of Bellaire Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Monday evening between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to parents Nils and Solveig Nilsen, and entered into rest on Saturday morning, August 11, 2007, following a lengthy illness. Esther was born on June 22, 1929, baptized on August 18, 1929, and grew into a lovely lady who cherished her family. She loved animals, the theatre, and traveling. Because of her love of travel, she had a beautician in every town.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alvin L. McCall; sons, Terry Alvin McCall and wife, Terri of Bossier City and Larry Wayne McCall of Shreveport; grandsons, Christopher Ryan McCall and William Hughes McCall.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Campbell, Christopher McCall, Charles Richardson, Dennis Blalock, Brad Smith, and George Chambers, III.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital or to Shriner's Hospital.
