I am so thankful I had the pleasure of working many years with Evelyn. She was a credit to our professional team of bus drivers. She had a very caring heart for her bus kids but yet was no nonsense and always put safety first. I am sure there are many adults that road her bus to school  that are now very appreciative of the way she took excellent care of them. She was someone that could always be counted on for many situations. 
So sorry to hear of this loss Rodney and April and such a loss to the community of Haughton. 
I remember in school when Evelyn and Rodney became sweethearts as there was not a finer couple for all these years in our town. Prayers for Rodney and April.🙏🙏🙏

Evelyn was such a nice lady. Her daughter, April is my daughter's best friend. They have been friends since high school. Dana has always called her and Rodney her second Mom and Dad. As her father’s last surviving brother, I am Evelyn’s oldest relative on her grandfather, Arnold Shaver’s, branch of the family tree. Evelyn's father was my big brother, a man who I looked up to (metaphorically—smile!) for my whole life. Because he was 20 years older than me, I had thought his first two children (Evelyn’s sisters) were actually my own sisters until I was in the first grade. When Evelyn came along, she became the first of my brother’s children that I could think of as a real niece.

Since Evelyn was born and raised in LA—and I spent most of the first 35 years of my adult life in Germany— we had few chances to see each other. But everything I saw and heard about her made me smile. Evelyn was creative; she did things, she built things, and she got things done. That description, alone, would make any Shaver proud to claim her as one of our own.

But Evelyn went much further and became an incredibly strong woman in her own right. With her husband, Rodney, she worked hard, maintained a beautiful home, and raised a strong and unique family. With each generation that gets added to her Shaver heritage, every single one of them remembers her now and claims her as their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and beyond.

And I am wiping tears from my eyes for my dear niece, Evelyn Renee Farrington Shaver. We all love you.

Evelyn and I rode the same bus (#88, Mr. Wilkins)all through high school and became very good friends. Lost contact after graduating, my loss, such a sweet person. So sorry for y’all’s loss. Praying for you all.

I first met Evelyn when we worked together at the phone company.  We later moved to Haughton and were able to visit from time to time. What a great person. Our whole community will miss her. God bless your family.

One of the sweetest people I have ever had the privilege to know. We often followed each other’s footprints without even knowing. We worked at the same places over and over again, always surprised to find each other there. My heart is breaking. Praying for her and her family. She will be missed by all.

My memory of Evelyn was back in the nineties when she was visiting Fort Knox She was very nice to me and I remember her being very crafty . She made me a witch to hang on a tree I still have it.   She was an excellent mother. I will always remember Evelyn.

Aunt Evelyn you will be truly missed. Prayers to Uncle Rodney, April, Jason and Jordan. May they find peace that you are no longer in pain. I love you and miss you.
