Frances (Fran) H. Keith Waguespack was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Russell Keith and Helen Wolff Keith on Christmas Day, 1937. She died in Shreveport on February 1, 2023 after an eight plus year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was predeceased by her parents, and also by her daughter, Lisa Brewer, who succumbed to early-onset Alzheimer’s at a young age.
Fran is survived by her husband, Joe; daughter, Maria James (John); son, Phill Primeaux; daughter, Becky Brady (Jeff); stepson, Mike Waguespack (Karen); and brother, James Keith. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Fran began her career in the Federal Sector in 1957 in New Orleans and served in numerous locations including Spangdahlem, Germany; Kaiserslautern, Germany; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Hickam AFB, Hawaii; Bossier Base; VA Medical Center in Shreveport; and Barksdale AFB. During her tenure in Civil Service, Fran received numerous letters of appreciation, awards, and commendations from all levels of command. Included in these were “Air Combat Command Intermediate Program Manager of the Year” for 1996; nomination as one of Barksdale’s “Best of the Best” in 1996; and culminating with the “Air Force Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award” presented upon her retirement in 1997 after 35 years of Federal Service. The last twenty years were spent as a Staffing Specialist in the Barksdale Civilian Personnel Office.
The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Eura Coleman who joined our “family” six years ago as Fran’s caregiver. She has been an almost constant presence in Fran’s life, especially during the pandemic when family members were not allowed to visit. We owe a debt of gratitude that we can never repay to this “special angel” God sent to care for Fran.
THANK YOU, MRS. COLEMAN!!
Thanks to the staff at the Chateaus at Montclair, namely Lorraine, Mary, Nikki, Yoshua, Shanterica, Francine, Alexis, Olivia, Tawanda, and Shunda. And a special “thanks” to Tracey who was always there when we needed her.
Thanks, also, to Ester, Dorus, Kim and Lois at Live Oak Health Center. There efforts in caring for Fran were remarkable considering the challenges of the pandemic during her stay there.
And we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge, with a large measure of gratitude, the staff of Gentiva Hospice. The kindness and compassion that Amber, Kinsey, Sheniska, and Brother Scott displayed during their visits were uplifting and truly genuine.
Per Fran’s request, her remains will be cremated and interred in the mausoleum at Hill Crest Memorial in Haughton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home with visitation one hour before. Interment will be private and at a later date.
