

Frederick was born to Foster and Dorothy Johnson and was educated in Caddo Parish, graduating from Jesuit High School in 1976.
In 1981, Frederick joined the Shreveport Fire Department, beginning a career defined by steady dedication and deep respect for service. For more than 30 years, he served his community with pride and passion, rising to the rank of Battalion Chief and continuing to give of himself in the work he valued. His commitment was evident not only in the years he devoted, but in the sense of purpose and responsibility he brought to the calling.
Chief Frederick Michael Johnson, Ret. is survived by his loving wife, Alisha Gernee Johnson; sons, Michael Douglas and partner Natalie Cuevas, and Eugene Douglas and wife Sarah; step daughter, Mayira Laird; sister, Fala Anderson; grandchildren, Isaiah, Naomi, Ella, Ava, Julian and Josiah; niece, Fawn Walker; nephew, Terry Foster Murray; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation will begin 9:00 am until 12:30 pm on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Funeral Mass will follow at The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans in Shreveport at 2:00 pm.
In Frederick’s memory, serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael, Isaiah, and Terry Foster.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shreveport Fire Academy.
