Guy grew up in St. Mary Parish through his high school years.
After high school, Guy joined the United States Air Force and retired after 23 years of service in Bossier City. During his tenure, he met the love of his life, Ilse Hartmann, his wife of 64 years. His career took him from the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, to Germany, to Vietnam, and places in between. He later transitioned from the Air Force to ExxonMobil and worked as a production operator in the Gulf of America for 16 years before re-retiring.
Guy always enjoyed travelling, sports, dancing, and working out. He also held a special place in his heart for the family pets—from Rover, to Pepper, to Schatzee, to Missy, and to his most recent partner in crime, Bandy.
Guy was very involved with the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4588. He served as the post commander for 10 years and was heavily involved with many of the programs provided by the membership, including the Americanism program, Buddy Poppy program, Patriot Pen Program, and the Community Service program. He also volunteered weekly at the local VA hospital - Auditory Division, providing administrative duties.
Guy was preceded in death by his mother, Della LaGrange Adams; father, Vandon Paul Adams; brothers, Clifton Adams, Allen Paul Adams and Van Joseph Adams; sisters-in-law, Merline L Adams, Pat P. Adams, and Faye Broussard Adams.
