Harold Byerly, 83, was born August 29, 1939 in Conchas, NM. He was raised in Merrillville, IN and attended Merrillville High school where he enjoyed learning and all sports. He continued his education at Purdue University, Illinois Institute of Technology graduating with a bachelor’s in Metallurgical Engineering and he continued his studies at Columbia University.
Harold spent his career as a research assistant for Argonne laboratories, an engineer for Western Electric/AT&T recycling and an engineer focused on waste incineration.
Harold loved his family, and he loved God. He loved singing in church choirs, and Christian healing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O. Monroe and Vida Byerly; brother, Kenneth; and infant daughter, Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; daughter Kyna Byerly (husband Jeremy Duke); son Christian Byerly; son David Byerly; daughter Susan Smith (husband Greg); daughter Jane Thomas (husband Michael); his grandchildren, Eli Byerly-Duke; Jacob Byerly-Duke; Rachel Byerly-Duke; Paul Thomas; and Matthew Thomas.
