I will miss you Buck.  The 8th Air Force museum at Barksdale has never had a truer friend, as well as a more dedicated professional to the preservation of Air Force history and Barksdale history than Buck Rigg.  The museum is what it is today because of all your hard work and dedication. 

I will also miss that big handlebar mustached smile of his always accompanied by a big cheery hello every time I met up with him.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time. 

Rest easy my friend and fly high.

The best asset Barksdale ever had. You will be missed by many. My condolences to the family. What a great loss to you, the immediate family, and to the military community. I am honored to have known Buck since being assigned to BAFB Public Affairs in 1992.

Buck was man among men. He was passionate about the military and so humble with his vast knowledge. Our family was privileged to have known him for countless years and cherish those memories. No matter how bad he was feeling, he never complained and always had smile on his face. He was truly great and we will miss him. Earth may have lost an angel, but heaven has definitely gained one. God Bless You, Buck.

I never met a man who was any more enthusiastic about his work and planning with others on a special project.  When our Berlin Airlift Veterans Association held our 2002 annual reunion in Bossier City, Mr. Rigg made all the wonderful arrangements with Barksdale AFB and the placing of our Memorial next to the C47 in the static display of aircraft. Buck influenced countless people during his 30 year passion as Director of the 8th Air Force Museum and mine was no exception. He gave me the opportunity to serve as a volunteer in 1982 and I still serve today. I will never forget his patience, attention to detail, knowledge of U.S. Air Force history, and his complete devotion to his career and his family. I am comforted by my belief that as we mourn his expedited departure from this earth, that he is flying high and unrestricted, in smooth air and unlimited visibility. My strongest condolences and prayers go out to his family.
