Hector Rivera, 93, passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of beautiful memories, a legacy of love, and a family who will forever cherish the privilege of having known and loved him.
Hector was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Martha, a loving father to his sons, Ronny and John. A cherished uncle, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather and an honorable United States Air Force veteran.
But to those who knew him best, Hector was so much more than the titles he held. He was a man whose presence brought comfort, whose life was filled with purpose, and whose love for his family could be seen in the simplest of moments.
Hector had a special love for sewing, a talent that reflected his creativity, and the care he put into everything he did. He loved tending to his beloved gardens, or simply enjoying the fresh air, he appreciated the beauty of keeping his hands busy and spending time outdoors. He had a deep appreciation for nature, especially birds, finding joy in their beauty and the peacefulness of watching them.
He also had a special fondness for lighthouses, something that will forever remind his family of him. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors or working on one of his many projects, he could often be found spending time with a crossword puzzle, keeping his mind sharp and enjoying life’s quieter moments. These simple pleasures were part of what made Hector so special.
Above all else, Hector loved his family. He shared a lifetime of love and memories with his beloved wife, Martha. Together, they experienced the joys, challenges, and blessings that come with building a life and family.
Hector was a proud grandfather to Justin, Ashley, Jazmyn, Freddy, and Kailey, and a loving great-grandfather to his wonderful great-grandchildren. Watching his family grow through the generations was one of life’s greatest blessings. The memories made, the stories shared, and the love passed down will continue to connect his family for generations to come. Each of whom holds a special place in the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
Hector was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Juan and Amada Rivera, his brother, Edwin, his son, Bobby, his daughter, Linda and his precious grandson, Josh.
Ninety-three years is a beautiful lifetime, but to those who love someone, no amount of time ever feels like enough. There will always be another story we wish we could hear, another conversation we wish we could have, and another moment we wish we could share.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana with Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11 am.
