Helen was born Tuesday, July 27, 1943 in Shreveport, LA. Helen was an avid reader where, at an early age she developed her sense of adventure. She loved to travel. She learned how to ride a motorcycle; plus, unlike most of us today, she could -- and would, drive a standard shift car.
Helen loved watching her football. She also loved music and dancing; listening to music, to include her favorites, such as: Janis Joplin, Elvis and Willie Nelson. Helen was very much a patriot and was an avid supporter of our United States Military. She gave selflessly in many ways, to include volunteering many hours at the Shreveport/Bossier Rescue Mission and the 8th Air Force Museum.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Lee S. and Helen M. Lindsay; brother, Lieutenant Stephen Lee Lindsay, USMC and her husband, Harold Rigg.
She is survived by her son, William P. “Trey” Birchfield III; daughter, Lee Lindsay Slansky and husband Bob; grandchildren, Krystyn Oliver and husband Derek; Derek Thrasher, Sara Sayers, Peyton Birchfield, Jayden Birchfield; and 4 great-grandchildren.
