He was born in Greenwood, LA on August 24th, 1928 to Huey and Willie Greer. He graduated from Bossier High School where he played on the football team.
He was married to Ethel Lawson Greer on August 27, 1954. They were married 63 years prior to her passing.
Huey retired from SWEPCO in 1984 at the age of 55. Prior to that he also worked at L.E. Myers, for the railroad, and his favorite, a tugboat out of Texas City in the Intracoastal Canal.
He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and country living.
He is preceded by his wife; his mom and dad; sisters: Laylon Neely Pirkey and Lavern Greer Bouknight; and son, John Greer.
He was survived by son, Murphy Don and wife Lynn Greer; daughter-in-law, Lisa Greer; granddaughter, Jessica Greer Laun and husband Dave Laun; granddaughter, Janee Greer Clay and husband Nicholas Clay; and great-grandchildren, Annalise, Anniston, and Amelia Laun and Torin Clay.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Friday, July 21st with visitation at 9 AM, services at 10 AM with interment to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
