

SHREVEPORT, LA – Services to celebrate the life of Huey Ray Lewing, 82, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Tuesday evening, April 15, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewing was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was Governor of Pelican Boys State in 1949, member of Chief Chat Room, and the American Legion. He served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force with tours of duties in Korea and Vietnam, retiring at B.A.F.B. as CMSgt. He was a true patriot. Mr. Lewing was also a Civil Service employee for 20 years. He loved his Lord with all of his heart and was always ready to sing and listen to southern gospel songs. One of his most enjoyable things that he loved was planting a garden at his farm. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was a kind, gentle and giving man. He will be so deeply missed.
Mr. Lewing is preceded in death by parents, Travis and Nettie Mae Lewing; and his son, Huey Gene Lewing. He is survived by his wife, Frances Delores Lewing; son, James Lewing and wife Donna of Haughton; daughter, Beverly Behnen and husband Dave of St. Louis, MO; grandsons, Brandon Lewing, Dylan Faudree, and Nathan Shumaker; granddaughters, Lindsay Faudree and Shalane Hathorn; sister, Christine Marcus; brothers, Howard Lewing and Wayne Lewing; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Lewing, Johnny Lewing, Nathan Shumaker, Dylan Faudree, and Brandon Lewing.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the friends and neighbors that were so much a part of Mr. Lewing’s life.
