Ida B. Watson French was born on October 19, 1930 in Shreveport, LA to the late B. B. Watson and Roxie Morris Watson. She was their only child. She was raised in Houston, TX, but they later moved to Doyline, LA.
Ida attended and graduated from Bossier High School. She later attended Los Angeles Community College and graduated as an LVN. She worked at Los Angeles General Hospital for 13 years.
Ida met the love of her life (Jimmie French) as he was on his way to work one day. They fell in love and married on November 8, 1963. They were married 57 years before Jimmie was called home on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020.
They resided in Los Angeles for 44 years and she attend Crenshaw Christian Center under the direction of Fred Price. They moved to Louisiana and attended First Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA for 17 years. They left First Baptist and both united with the Zion Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of
Reverend Richard Jefferson.
Ida enjoyed attending church and would often be seen after church laughing and talking with members in the back. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her loving memories are: two brothers-in-law, Vernon French, and Moses (Thelma) French of Phoenix, AZ; two nephews, Bryant, and Julian; three nieces, Gail, Shelia, and April; and a host of cousins and friends.
Special thanks to Gerald Brown, Andrew T. Feaster, Alfred Lott, Nurse Leslie Watson of Prime Star Home Health, and the Zion Hill Baptist Church Family, and Willie Thomas, Jr., a special family friend.
