Ila Mae Coffman Batie, 86, of Shreveport, Louisiana went home to her Heavenly Father, Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was born September 23, 1937 in Hopper, Arkansas. After her birth her family moved to Brinkley, Arkansas where Ila attended Brinkley High School and has recently enjoyed attending high school reunions. At Brinkley High she was in choir, played clarinet in the band, was in business club and worked in the library. The library is particularly fitting as Ila has always been an avid reader. In fact she read her bible in full every year for probably over 60 years. After high school, in 1958 Ila married her late husband Tommy Batie.
By Tommy’s side, Ila served her Lord raising their three sons and serving her church family at the University Church of Christ where she was a member for about 65 years. She was an active member of Ladies Book Clubs, Ladies Bible Class, the North Highland’s Women’s Club and the Women’s Widow missionary. Ila is remember by many as an excellent cook, a beautiful seamstress, a lover of birds and a wonderful friend.
She joins in Heaven her parents Ira and Ludie Bell Coffman; brothers Troy and Gene Coffman; and sisters Fran Thweat and Betty Weatherford. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Jeff Batie of Centennial, Colorado, Stephen Batie and wife Cindy, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Andrew Batie and wife Darlene, of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, James Batie and Daniel Batie, of Colorado, Shane Batie and wife Rachel, of Dallas, Texas, Sarah Bonsness and Husband Joe of Fort Worth, Texas, Daniel Paul Batie and Jolene Batie of Nashville, Tennessee.
Ila has three great-grandchildren: Millie Batie and Forest Batie, of Dallas, Texas, and Fynn Bonsness of Fort Worth, Texas.
Graveside services for Ila will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2pm at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior beginning at 1pm until 2pm. Honoring Ila as pallbearers will be Stephen Batie, Andrew Batie, Shane Batie, Daniel Paul Batie, Daniel Weber and Joseph Bonsness.
