Jackie Joy McGuire, 88, passed away on September 24, 2026. Born October 31, 1937, Jackie was a longtime resident of Bossier City, and more recently of Shreveport, Louisiana, and will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew and loved her.
For 36 years, Jackie served at Everett’s Book Bindery as a bookbinder, dedicating steady hands and a patient spirit to work that quietly shaped countless lives. Through her craft, she bound books for the Caddo and Bossier Parish school libraries—volumes that would be opened by generations of students, carrying learning forward because she took pride in doing each task with care. In her younger years, she spent herself providing for her family, meeting life with faithful perseverance and devotion.
Jackie’s love was most often felt in the everyday moments that mattered most. She cherished time with her grandchildren, filling her home with the comfort of reading and singing, and with the simple assurance that there was always a bowl of chicken and dumplings ready—ready to fill their souls and bodies.
She is survived by two sons, James N. McGuire and Michael McGuire (Sharon); daughter, Cynthia McGuire Murray; son-in-law, Tony Murray and bonus daughter, Cassandra Hill-Blackshire; sixteen grandchildren: Heather, Michael, Eric, Crystal, Jennifer, Tabitha, Stephen, Samantha, Megan, Ashley, Aleea, Mary (Jalin), Shaterrica, Kina, Tony Jr., and Antwuan and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Effie Cummings; two brothers; one sister; daughter Pamela Kay McGuire; son Jackie Ray McGuire; and husband of 65 years, Doyle Ray McGuire.
Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
