James Lake Childress was born on June 29, 1976 to Dr. Jim Chldress and Marti Horton Childress in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Haughton High School and went on to attend BPCC, ULM, and NSU. His love for people led him into a successful career as a realtor.
Lake was preceded in death by his mother, Marti, and his grandparents.
Lake is survived by his father, Dr. Jim Childress of Haughton, LA; his brother, Jeff Childress of Haughton, LA; his sister, Perry Childress of Bossier City, LA; his nephew, T.J. Childress of Mayfield, KY; his niece, Nora Nichols of Bossier City, LA, and a host of cherished family and friends.
He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and made his profession of faith at the age of 12.
Lake had a love for history, traveling, movie memorabilia, and video games. He never met a stranger and had the ability to make people laugh. In spite of his prognosis, he remained positive and his spirit never waivered.
The family would like to thank his family and friends who walked through this journey with Lake. Your love and support during this difficult journey, all the way up to his very end, will not be forgotten. We will forever be grateful for your outpouring of love and support.
Lake was an inspiration to not only his family and friends, but to anyone that he encountered. He cherished his relationships which led to MANY “best friends.” We will miss his smile, infectious laugh, his funny impersonations, and his kid-at-heart approach to life!
Lake was someone who always knew how to make everyone around him laugh. His quick wit, clever jokes, and infectious laughter would light up any room he entered. He had such a unique ability to find humor in even the darkest of situations, and his presence was always a source of joy and comfort for those around him.
Lake’s sense of humor reflected his larger-than-life personality. He was always the life of the party, the one who could turn any gathering into a memorable and entertaining event. Whether it was a serious conversation, a celebration, or just a casual get-together, Lake’s presence guaranteed plenty of laughter and good times to be had.
But beyond his humor, Lake was also a kind and compassionate person. He was always there to offer encouragement or listen whenever somebody needed to talk. His presence in our lives was truly a blessing, and his passing has left a void that can never be filled.
The memories of his laughter, jokes, and warm smile will forever be etched into our mind, serving as a reminder of the joy and happiness he brought into our lives. While his physical presence may be gone, his spirit lives on in the laughter and love he shared with all he crossed paths with.
A celebration of life is planned for June 23, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at Silver Star Smokehouse in Bossier.
