James was born in Hope, AR on April 10, 1934. He was always an avid sports fan and was a football officiant for the Southern Conference for 30 years. He worked as an officer for Bossier City Police Department for a time and in the banking industry before he settled in as a mayoral assistant for the City of Bossier. After retirement, he stayed active working at Sam’s Town Casino and gardening at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erma and Alton McRae Honeycutt, Sr.; son, Derel McRae Honeycutt; granddaughter, Jill Bridges; brother, Alton M. Honeycutt, Jr. and sister-in-law, Ruby Honeycutt.
James is survived by his wife, Reta Honeycutt; sons, Mark Honeycutt and wife Charla and Wesley Honeycutt and wife Laurie; daughter, Brenda Honeycutt as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
