Jamie had a kind soul, an infectious laugh, and a natural way of making everyone around him feel important. Throughout his youth, his light-hearted, fun-loving temperament was truly contagious, bringing joy to friends and family alike. He carried that same free-spirited nature with him throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
Jamie graduated from Haughton High School in 1995. During his time at HHS, he enjoyed the Drama Club and supporting the BUCS as “Bucky” the mascot. He later went on to graduate from KD Conservatory College of Film and Dramatic Arts. He pursued a career in acting for several years in Los Angeles, California, appearing in various television series and commercials. After returning home to start a family with his wife Julie, he spent many years working alongside his father running the family business The Wooden Spoon. Jamie, then proudly joined the legacy of Burns graduates and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern State University in 2014. For the last 15 years, Jamie has had a successful career inspecting pipelines for the Department of Natural Resources, and most recently serving as manager of Regulatory Compliance and Integrity for Prime Energy Services.
Jamie was the founder and driving force behind G1 (God 1st Impact), where he dedicated himself to coaching, counseling, and mentoring hundreds of young athletes across Louisiana, Texas, and beyond. His influence reached far and wide, shaping lives with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Jamie’s passing leaves a profound void—not only in his family, but throughout the entire community he served so selflessly.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, AJ and Mildred Burns and Patrick and Loretta Morrand, as well as his father-in-law, David Bedard. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie; his children, Olivia and James David “Bud”; his parents, Henry and Lynette Burns; and his mother-in-law, Carol Bedard. He is also survived by his brothers, Jason (Lindsay) and Chris (Lisa); his sister, Carrie Beth (Cody); his sister-in-law, Emily (Kenneth); and his beloved nieces and nephews: Kyler, Rebekah, Chandler, Kameron, Kristoffer, Emmalyn, Isabella, and Carter.
Jamie was a lifelong member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton, LA. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00. Visitation will be at 9:00 prior to the Mass. The family invites anyone who would like to celebrate Jamie’s life to The Stable at 2195 Swan Lake Spur in Bossier immediately following Mass.
