Walter Lee and Cleo Odessa Wise Ward welcomed little James Edward into this world on December 27, 1938 in Plain Dealing, LA. Jim proudly served his country in the United Stated Air Force while stationed in Minneapolis and Dallas. He made a living later in life as a poker dealer here in Bossier City. He was a man of many interests. In his early years, he found much enjoyment in taking his hopped up ’56 Ford Fairlane or ’59 Chevy down the track. Years later, his interests turned to playing poker, fishing, watching Sunday football and especially relaxing at home with his family. Jim was a proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and devoted husband that found his joy in watching his family grow and spending time with his sweetheart, Kay. But we would be remiss not to mention place he had in his heart for his little teacup yorkies Sally, GiGi and Bubba (but Sally was his favorite.) Mr. Ward passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at home on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the tender age of 80.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents; sister, Margaret Louise Flood; and brother, Tom Ward. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Shirley “Kay” Ward; daughters, Debra Anne Hankins with husband Stephen and Betty Alane Ward; brother, Walter Frank Ward with wife Pandora; grandchildren, Kaycee Gutierrez with husband Felipe, Lyndon Porter and Stephen Loren Hankins with wife Julienne; great grandchildren, Jonathan Gutierrez, Kaylee Guiterrez, Isabelle Agua, Lilienne Hankins, Gabrielle Hankins and Leah Porter; and numerous nieces, nephews other family and dear friends.
Stephen Loren Hankins, Lyndon Porter, Dakotah Durante, Jonathan Gutierrez, Felipe Gutierrez and Stephen Hankins will serve as pallbearers for Thursday’s service.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Willis- Knighton Cancer Center- especially Dr. Maxwell McDonald- and Angela, Cynthia, Linda and Collette along with numerous others from Willis Knighton Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
