

She held various roles throughout her career, including working as a telephone operator at Bell South, serving as a substitute teacher, leading doll-making classes, and owning Dolls by Jan on Barksdale Blvd. Additionally, she taught porcelain doll classes at Bossier Parish Community College.
Each week, she drove herself to sewing classes to further expand her already extensive knowledge. She often traveled to out-of-town craft shows, where she set up large booths featuring her handmade sewing creations and porcelain dolls crafted from scratch. She was very generous, giving away her dolls at times.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Shoemake; daughter, Marlene Shoemake, and granddaughter, Heather Shoemake.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Frazier, husband Dave; son, Rusty Shoemake, wife Mary Jo Shoemake; grandsons, Jason Arnold, wife Christina, Greg Shoemake, and Colin Shoemake; great granddaughters, Makayla Smith and Abbie Arnold, and brother, Bernard Sigmon of Gilbert, Arizona.
Pallbearers are Greg Shoemake, Dave Frazier, C.H. McCuller Jr., Leonard Koglin, Cortis Smith, Jason Arnold. Honorary Pallbearer are Daniel McCuller and Colin Shoemake

The family would like to extend a special thanks to nurses and staff at Pilgram Manor and the nurses at Compassus Hospice.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Josh Cagle officiating.
