

Jimmie Glynn Fortenberry Jr., aged 86, passed away on December 1, 2025. Born on December 1, 1939, Jimmie was a longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the second of five children born to Jimmie Fortenberry Sr. and Ruby Fortenberry.
Jimmie, affectionately known as Jim, had a long and distinguished career as a sales representative, working for Philip Morris for 30 years and for Hershey for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends, a hobby that brought him much joy.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Janelle Fortenberry, whom he had known since the second grade. He leaves behind two daughters, Tracie Bentzler and her husband Paul Bentzler, and Kimberly Ward and her husband James Ward. He was a proud grandfather to Meagan Adams and her husband Russell Adams, Melissa Jones and her husband Jeffrey Jones, Sarah Parker and her husband Trey Parker, and Hunter Ward. His legacy also includes great-grandchildren Blake Adams, Joel Parker, Ava Adams, and Jonah Parker. Jim is also survived by his brother Wayne Fortenberry and his two sons, Tim and Tony, as well as his sister Deborah Rosenburg; and his nephew Christopher Fortenberry and his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Glynn Fortenberry Sr. and Ruby Fortenberry, as well as his brother Paul Fortenberry and sister Mary Ethel.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, located at 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana, 71037. A Celebration of Life at will began 2:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, and interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Fontenberry, Christopher Fortenberry, Russell Adams, Jeff Jones, Trey Parker and Steve Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Sayles, Floyd Jones, Bill Araiza and Larry Raffield.
Jim will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his career, as well as the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
