Joan Taylor Smith

Joan Taylor Smith, 89, a resident of Haughton, Louisiana, was born in Choudrant, Louisiana on March 4, 1937, to the late Tommy and Ocile Murry Taylor, and passed from this life on June 10, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Joan was a faithful member of First Baptist Haughton. She found deep satisfaction in the simple, beautiful work of nurturing life—whether in her garden, or while tending to her farm animals. Known as a “master gardener,” she brought patience and care to all she cultivated, and her love of painting reflected the same attentive spirit that marked her days.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Smith, and her sisters, Kaye and Lou.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tommy Smith and Gail Young, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 17th from 9 am until 10 am at Hill Crest Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 10 am. Interment will be at the Beulah Cemetery in Calhoun, LA.
