An electrician for over fifty years, he retired from Wilhite Electric in Bossier City after thirty-three years to enjoy his lifelong passion of deer hunting full time. His enthusiasm for hunting led him all over the South and, indeed, the entire United States in search of the biggest buck and the fellowship of hunting companions. His membership in IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) spanned his entire career, and he volunteered to sit on their apprentice committee for nearly thirty years. A college football fan, his favorite team was, of course, LSU Tigers.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Jarrett and Juanita Couch Collins. He is survived by his wife, Helen Collins; sisters, Doris Wilhite and Naomi Bigelow; brother, Ralph Collins; daughter, Juanita Renee Collins; son, Joe Collins, Jr.; stepdaughters, Windi Sebren and Sherry Pryor and husband Michael; grandchildren, Christopher Collins, Brittney Collins, Sydney Collins, and Sterling Collins; step-grandchildren, Christopher Pryor, Amanda Pryor, and Jana Pryor; and great- and step-grandchildren Sage, Rhett, Wrangler, Aria, Adrian, Harper, Lilly, Nathan, and Allen.
