

Joe Noble Taylor Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. Born on June 23, 1944, Joe lived a life defined by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a strong work ethic that touched all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Elma Bernice Taylor and Joe Noble Taylor Sr.; his brothers, Donald Wayne Taylor, Roy Dale Taylor, and Stephen Rex Taylor; and his beloved daughter, Lisa Taylor Cowart.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Byrd Taylor, whose unwavering devotion and companionship were the foundation of a lifetime of cherished memories. He is also survived by his daughter, Debra Taylor Thomas and her husband, Jeffery David Thomas.
Joe was a proud grandfather to Shelby Lockwood and her husband, Matthew Lockwood; Haley Cowart Cox and her fiancé, Matthew Storrs; Jeffery Dylan Thomas and his wife, Amanda Weese Thomas; and Hunter Noble Thomas and his wife, Caroline Thomas. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Dakota Moore, Bradley Moore, Olivia Lockwood, DJ Cox, and Branson Cox, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He also leaves behind sisters; Donna Larue Sandifer, Wanda Taylor Simpson, Mary Taylor Morgan and husband Roy Morgan; and brother; Tim G Taylor. Along with many nieces and nephews.
A proud patriot, Joe served six years in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman, earning a marksmanship award during his military service. He carried the values of honor, discipline, and commitment throughout his life.
Following his military service, Joe dedicated more than 20 years of his career to cabinet making, where his craftsmanship, attention to detail, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Joe found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, gathering with family, and watching his favorite westerns. He was a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU athletics, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his teams.
More than anything, Joe loved his family. His steady presence, wisdom, sense of humor, and unconditional love created a legacy that will continue through the generations he leaves behind. While his family mourns his passing, they take comfort in the countless memories, lessons, and love he shared throughout his life.
Joe will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who went before him and remembered by those who will carry his legacy forward.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at HIll Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
