

John Burt Barnes, Jr. was born on May 8, 1964, in Marana, Arkansas to John and Lois Barnes, and went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2016. He was the second child and had an older sister, Judy. When he was five months old his father married his step-mother, Elizabeth. Elizabeth had three children; Frankie, Robert, and Rhonda. His father, John, and step-mother, Elizabeth, had his brother, Phillip.
Growing up, John worked on neighboring farms; he loved to go hunting and fishing every chance he got. During high school he developed a passion for mechanics and body work. From there on out he worked various jobs and always dreamed of opening his very own body shop.
He married Tammy Gracie and they had a daughter, Sylvia. Shortly after a year of marriage they divorced. When Sylvia was four he moved to Louisiana and stayed with his father. Shortly after moving to Louisiana, he met Laurie and they dated. Laurie had a son, James, whom John raised. After five years of dating he and Laurie had a son, Matthew. He and Laurie separated when his youngest son, Matthew, was two years old. After a year later of the separation, he met Tina and they started dating. Tina has two daughters, Nikki and Lacy. After six years of dating he and Tina got married. They made Haughton, Louisiana their residence.
While living in Haughton he continued to work various jobs in construction. He began to work out of town in different neighboring states until the good Lord called him home.
John is preceded in death by his father, John Burt Barnes, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Tina; three daughters, Sylvia, Nikki, and Lacy; two sons, James and Matthew; three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Brooklynn, and London; three grandsons, Cody, Cameron, and Michael Lane; his sisters Judy and husband Semour, and Rhonda; brothers, Phillip and wife Pam, and Robert and wife Ruby.
Everyone that knew John knows he loved people and was a hard worker. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by many.
John’s service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Haughton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
