John Scott Griffis

Funeral services for John Scott Griffis, 45, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Mr. Griffis was born March 10, 1966 in Evreux, France and passed away January 1, 2012 in New Orleans, LA. Scott began working in the family business, Delta Tire and Supply, alongside his father. He continued his trade at South Gateway Tire until the early 90’s when he ventured into the video gaming and amusement business with his father-in-law at L.S.M. Gaming Inc. He and his wife are members of the Krewe of Justinian and Centaur, where he has been float Lt. for the Krewe since 2005.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Griffis; maternal grandfather, Johnnie V. Ghettie, Jr; and paternal grandfather, Leland Gayle Griffis, and niece Tiffany Bradley.

Survivors include his wife Rhonda Palmer Griffis; daughter, Piper Sage Griffis; son, Peyton Scott Griffis; mother, Kay Griffis Sockrider; step-father, H.F. “Sock” Sockrider; sister, Stacye Griffis Copeland and her children Katelyn and Lindsey Copeland; maternal grandmother, Mary Joyce Williams; paternal grandmother, Emma Jean Griffis; mother-in-law Linda Raab; sister-in-law Lauri Palmer Vosbury and children David, Chris, Cole and Taylor Vosbury and Great nephew Cameron Dreher.

Pallbearers will be Shane Roth, Ricky Worthey, John Dunn, Larry Cooper, Mark Griffis, and Larry Farris.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Ochsner’s Medical Center in Metairie, and their Flight Team, for their kind and devoted care.
