John was a devoted Catholic who lived a life filled with service and love. He proudly served two years in the Navy before retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1975. An active member of Christ the King Church, he was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, embodying his faith through community service and fellowship.
As a loving husband, father, and brother. John was always there for his family offering unwavering support throughout their lives. His kindness extended beyond his family, as he never hesitated to help anyone in need. In this time of sorrow, we find peace in knowing that John is with Jesus and our mother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Louise A. Nicholson; daughter, Tammy Marie Nicholson; granddaughter, Chelsea Marie Askew; parents, John Nicholson and Edna Mary King Nicholson; sister, Margaret Alice (Nicky) Del Mastro, and Step-mother, Margaret Nicholson.
He is survived by sons, John P. Nicholson, wife Michelle and Robert Michael Nicholson, wife Cathy; daughter, Cynthia N. Tougas, husband Morris; grandchildren, Shelby Bryan, husband Stephen, Sharley Barrow, husband Andrew, Steven Bailey, wife Miranda, Nicholas White, wife Nicole, Michael Ballard, wife Kari, Anna Nicholson, and Austin Askew; brothers, David Nicholson, wife Becky and Kevin Nicholson, wife Norma, along with 11 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, 601 Highway 80, Haughton, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to At Tunnels to Towers and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The Family would like to extend a Very Special Thank you to Jamie and Stacy Thompson for their friendship, care, and compassion for our father. They also want to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at the War Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana, for their dedication, as well as to Bristol Hospice for their loving care.
