

Dr. John D. Stephens, DDS. passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 4, 2011 at the Overton Brooks VA Medical
Center in Shreveport. Graveside Services will full military honors will be held Saturday May 7, at 2 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery in Haughton. Public visitation will begin at 1:30 PM in the Chapel.
Dr. Stephens was born in Shreveport in 1922, and attended Byrd High School where he graduated with honors. He was a retired U.S. Army Colonel and proudly served his country during WWII. He attended the Medical College of Virginia where he studied Dentistry. John was an avid gardener, and loved to travel. He started each day doing the crossword puzzle, and enjoyed practicing his Spanish and German.
John was a long-time resident of Atlanta, GA, John relocated to Bossier City five years ago. He is survived by his loving wife, Olivia S. Stephens, Step-children Caroline and John Dooling, and Michael T. Askew, nephews John Euson, Richard Euson, and nieces Ann Winsor, and Danielle Euson Hughes, great-niece Brittany Dunn and great-nephew Kevin Dooling, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years, Edith, his brother James A. Stephens, and sister Caroline S. Euson.
The family wishes to thank the Willis-Kinghton Bossier, Promise Bossier, NW Louisiana War Veteran's home and the VA Medical Center staff. A very special thank you to Mrs. Kim Duke of Haughton, for we will be forever grateful for her unyielding care and compassion for John.
