Johney passed away at the War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA where he lived with those who had served in the military to protect our country, his “Brothers in Arms”. During his enlistment in the U.S. Army, he served three tours in Vietnam and was a Green Beret.
His civilian life was still one of labor and service, but this time in construction and residential and commercial painting. In addition to being a “hands on” man, and all around good person, Johney was an awesome father who never made the distinction between children and step-children. They were ALL his kids!
Johney was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Chad Walston; brother, Paul Walston; and his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jamie Walston, Shaeron Walston, Tray Stewart, Ty Stewart, Tina Orr, and Debbie Parker; sisters, Rosie Sims, Gloria Agrella, and Loretta Stiller; brothers, Michael Walston and Tim Walston; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Johney will be held on Monday evening, May 15, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. The committal service, with military honors, will take place Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Northwest LA Veteran’s Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
