SHREVEPORT, LA - Johnnie Yvonne Brooks, age 66, passed from this life on July 12, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, July 13th at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA from 5-7 pm. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 14th at Hill Crest Memorial Park.

As a wife and mother, she grew her joy by raising strong, determined daughters, and then saw that joy multiplied further with the addition of each grandchild to her family. Without doubt, her family was her life’s passion. She believed in working hard and relishing life's simple pleasures. She treasured the company of her beloved pets and collected eagles, making the words of Isaiah 40:31 a most fitting tribute to her strength, her courage, and her faith. "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Johnnie was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Aline Ricketts Davis and her husband, James Davis; her brother, Jesse James Ricketts; and her sister, Judy Kay Shaw.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wendell Brooks of Shreveport; three daughters, Brenda Campbell and husband Terry of Denham Springs, Cynthia Brooks of Shreveport, and Wendy Lowe and husband Rob of Shreveport; five grandchildren, Dylan Campbell of Denham Springs, Amanda Carroll and husband Justin of Shreveport, Kelsey Kilpatrick and fiancé, Marc Cantwell of Shreveport, Shelby Campbell of Denham Springs, and Cody Kilpatrick and fiancé, Hailey Schurman of Shreveport; her sister Mary Labonte of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn her passing are her furry children Maggie, Cookie and Sugar, and a host of granddogs and grandcats.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Campbell, Terry Campbell, Cody Kilpatrick, Marc Cantwell, Rob Lowe, and Justin Carroll. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richie Kilpatrick, Tim Mills, Joe Hartley, and Wayne May.
