

Joy graduated from Fair Park High School in 1953, where she served as an ROTC Sponsor Officer. Her career spanned 30 years at Bell South, later known as AT&T, where she retired as a Supervisor in the Plant Department.
Joy was married to Nealie E. Valentine for 70 wonderful years. She was the cherished daughter of Clovis and Marie Elkins and the sister of Gay Elkins Bryan.
Joy was preceded in death by her son, Stephen L. Valentine, and she is survived by her loving husband Nealie. She found immense joy in spending time with her extended big family, a testament to her loving and joyous spirit.
In her personal time, Joy enjoyed RV traveling, playing cards such as Rook and Canasta, Dominos, and Casino play. She was an excellent cook, loved to decorate, and was an avid Astros fan who also enjoyed shopping. A typical redhead, Joy was known for hosting big family meals and providing a warm atmosphere for everyone. Her name, Joy, could not have been more personified, as she brought happiness to all who knew her.
Private services will be held in honor of Joy's memory.
