

Julia Darlene Ulmer, a beloved and faithful soul, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on October 8, 1939, she was known for her generous and thoughtful nature. Julia was a resident of Bossier City, Louisiana.
She grew up in Sugar Hill, Texas, and her family later relocated to Haughton, Louisiana, where she attended and graduated from Haughton High School. Julia dedicated over 36 years of her life working as a switchboard operator and local directory assistance for AT&T until her retirement.
On March 14, 1959, she married the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Ulmer. Julia was an avid reader and later became a listener of audio books, which brought her much joy.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis and Nettie Blalock; husband, James H. "Jimmy" Ulmer; infant daughter; and sister, Nancy M. Roach. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, located at 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana, 71037. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am at the same location. She will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Honoring Julia as pallbearers will be Kyle Jerner, Ryan Jerner, Melvin Fletcher, Gene Roach, Frank Sparano and Cody Ball.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and doctors at Willis Knighton Bossier, Dr. Malla, nurse Reagan and Bristol Hospice for their kindness and care in her last days. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
