BOSSIER CITY, LA - June Doris (Hoffman) Crumbliss, 91, died October 17, 2012, after a brief illness. Called “Belo” by her first grandchild, she was a loving wife and mother, and a friend to many. Born and raised in Baltimore, Mom met a handsome young man from another neighborhood, James Crumbliss, who pushed her off the pier into the river, and a love affair of over 65 years had begun. Married in 1943 with Dad already in pilot training, their lives as an Army/Air Force family took them through three wars and many transfers over the next 30 years. Then after retiring, they traveled to virtually every state, many foreign countries, and cruised the oceans and seas for over 30 years more. Their bags were always packed.
Along the way came three sons who were all proud to be Air Force brats. Surviving their folks are James Crumbliss, Jr. and wife Yvette, of Georgetown, TX; Larry Crumbliss and wife Mary Ann, of Bossier City; and Jack Crumbliss and wife Rhonda Kay, of Bossier City. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Mom was the last of her siblings and cousins that she grew up with. Her beloved husband died in July, 2009. She spent her last year as a resident at Colonial Oaks Guest Care in Bossier City, enjoying the facility and many friendships. We are grateful to Jay and Cindy Burkhart and their staff for their kindness and excellent care.
Services for June will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at 9:00 am prior to the service.
