Linda was not a stranger to hardship during her early years, but she never let that dull her shine. Married and divorced twice she poured her heart into solely providing for her three young children. Through hard work and dedication, she provided a comfortable, nurturing and loving home. No matter what her children needed or wanted, she found a way to provide.
She worked at Glenwood Drug Store on Line Avenue for a number of years, before attaining a position at Western Electric (Lucent). During her time there, she participated in their annual safety contest winning one year with the slogan “A careless act, a close call - ‘Almost Safe’ isn’t safe at all”. She was fortunate to be able to enjoy many years of retirement.
While raising her children, she began a loving relationship with M L Raab. After becoming an empty nester, they soon married and through their adventurous journey, they melded a large family where everyone was welcome. Together, they loved hosting at home and on Toledo Bend. Whether it was frying up their latest catch, impromptu card games or holiday dinners, they were always sharing with love and laughter.
While Linda was saved at a young age, she rededicated her life to Jesus as an adult enhancing her personal and family life. She became a member of Fillmore Baptist Church for many years, encouraging and bringing along many family and friends for services and Sunday singings.
Elegance, poise, beauty and strength are just a few words used to describe Linda. To her, every day was a beautiful day, especially if the sun was shining. Her smile lit up a room and she had a way of making everyone around her feel special. She knew the birds by their song, she knew the names of the flowers and the secrets to keeping them healthy. She would call late at night just to ask, “Hun, have you seen that big, beautiful moon?” She was a great conversationalist and an even greater listener, knowing the right questions to ask to keep you engaged just a little longer.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family and she loved devoting time to them. Her hobbies included shopping, dining, traveling, reading, fishing, sleepovers and talking until all hours of the night. She shared her love of shopping with everyone and was always on the lookout for the best bargains.
