Linda Serio

Linda Gagnard Serio, 74, of Opelousas, Louisiana, passed away on February 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 4, 1950, in Cottonport, Louisiana, to the late Lovanna and Anthony Gagnard.

Linda was a woman of profound dedication and compassion. She served as the President of the Backside Benevolence Fund, where her leadership touched the lives of many, and was an active member of the Bereavement Committee at St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton.

Having moved frequently in her youth due to her father's occupation as a pipe fitter, Linda attended Minden High School before beginning her career at Western Electric in Shreveport, where she met her beloved "Supervisor" and soulmate, Louis Serio. Louis saw not only Linda's professional potential but also fell deeply in love with her. They married in November of 1971 and embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.

Together, Linda and Louis, along with, brother-in-law, Frank and his wife Barbara, founded “Serios’ Feed and Seed,” a testament to their strong partnership and entrepreneurial spirit. They dedicated themselves to the business, working alongside family and friends, and creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Linda found joy in spending time with her close friends, particularly Randy and Ronda Johnson, and cherished all the moments with her family. In 1984, Linda welcomed her son, Scott Serio, into the world, and in 2016, her heart overflowed with love upon the arrival of her granddaughter, the apple of her eye and her “Cher Bébé” (darling baby), Sibley Marabella Serio.

Cooking in the kitchen was a source of happiness for Linda and Sibley, especially when she was making homemade biscuits to share with her loved ones. She believed in the importance of giving back to her community, was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family, and loved listening listening attentively to Scott's welding or tractor projects with unwavering support.

Linda is preceded in death by her grandparents, and her parents Anthony & Lovanna; her sister Carol; her brother Warren Gagnard; her sister-in-law Carolyn; and her brother-in-law Frank Serio. Linda will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving family members: her husband Louis; her son Scott and daughter-in-law Sara; her granddaughter Sibley; and her nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated healthcare staff of Our Lady of Prompt Succor and Opelousas General Hospital for their compassionate care.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Monday, February 26, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 27 at 11:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, followed by burial at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's memory, may be made to the Backside Benevolence Fund, Holy Angels or St. Jude Catholic Church.

Linda's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace.
