She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Melba Readhimer, her brother, Reggie Readhimer, and an infant brother and infant sister.
She is survived by her brother Rodney Readhimer, son Brandon Garrett, daughter Miranda June Lambert, husband Chase, and grandson Hudson Jude Lambert. She is also survived by her former husband, Darryl Garrett, and numerous cousins and friends.
Mrs. Garrett was part of a unique three-generation tradition in which her mother, herself, and her daughter all shared the same middle name: June.
Mrs. Garrett was a warm, caring, humorous friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed gardening and found particular joy in going to as many estate, garage, and rummage sales as she possibly could. As a young adult, she enjoyed photography and showed her artistic skills in many wildlife and landscape paintings she gifted to family and friends.
Like her dad and both brothers, she was a licensed Private Pilot and past member of the International Association of Women Pilots, the 99’s. She held several leadership positions in that organization over the years.
She raised her children in the challenging environment of being a military wife. As an Army officer’s wife, she served as the Family Support Group leader at both the Company and Battalion levels while her husband was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY.
The family would like to give a heartfelt Thank You to the doctors, nurses and staff of Christus Highland Hospital for their loving and dedicated care of Mrs. Garrett during her final weeks in the hospital.
Services for Mrs. Garrett will be at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Highway 80 in Haughton, LA, on Wednesday, September 11, with Pastor Eric Zimmer officiating. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Garrett was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. Her special scripture was John 3:16 –
“For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
