Lucy "Athalee" Brandt

Athalee graduated high school in Mena, Arkansas as class president and valedictorian. She worked briefly in Washington, D.C. for the FBI, and when coming back home met her future husband on the train. He was stationed at Barksdale AFB and they soon married. She traveled to many places, Eglin AFB, FL, Arlington, VA, Wiesbaden, Germany, Omaha, Nebraska and finally Barksdale AFB, LA. Athalee loved to read and was active in church and church activities. She was a crossing guard at Bellaire Elementary for 28 years and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the children. She also enjoyed time with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Athalee is survived by two sisters, Linda Tyler and Patty Rowe; four children, Susan Stafford, Steve Brandt (Belynda), Sandra Cooper (Brian) and Scott Brandt; ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Raymond W. Brandt and one sister, Loretta Miller.

Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana 71037, on July 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Chapel Service will follow at the same location on July 11, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM with Jerry Hodge, pastor of University Church of Christ officiating.
