Lydia May Braud was born on August 27, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Owen and Anna (née Vetrano) Tucker, and spent the majority of her younger years growing up in Memphis, TN. She passed away peacefully in Bossier City, LA on July 19, 2022.
Lydia worked clerically for most of her career and particularly enjoyed her job at an employment agency. Her pastime interests included travel as well as being a talented, marvelous cook. Her truest love though, was any time spent with her family. Her wit, charm, and sass was a part of her captivating presence right until the end, with her loss there will be a little less sass in the world. Beyond her personal charms she was a deeply compassionate and empathetic person who always knew when and how to give comfort. And above all, taught us how to have grace, tolerance, and forgiveness. Her favorite show of all time was The Golden Girls and to those who knew her know she had a little bit of Rose, Blanche, Sophia, and Dorothy in all of her and for that we say, thank you for being a friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul Ratte and sister, Judy Mertes and is survived by her husband, Harry A. Braud; daughters, Janeece Bailey and husband John, Penny Shirley and husband Bill; Renee Braud; son Scott Braud and wife Patti. Grandchildren, Spencer Bailey, Hillary Torres and husband Rue, Morgan Bailey, Katie Lynn Harden and wife J’Net, Amanda Raborn and husband Tyler, Christian Harden and wife Kayla, as well as many great grandchildren and extended family.
The family would like to thank Linda and Dave Davidson for their unfailing support and friendship to both Lydia and Harry as well as their children and grandchildren.
Services will be held privately.
