Magdeline H Hatfield

Magdeline Helena Buerklin Hatfield, age 85, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Haughton (Red Chute), Louisiana. Magdeline was born December 1, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Robert David Nichols Buerklin and Helen Morros Buerklin Hinchey.

Magdeline devoted herself to her home and family, consistently going the extra a mile to assist neighbors and friends, especially with caring for their children. Even though she was not allowed in the kitchen at home, she taught herself the art of cooking. Magdeline took pleasure in baking and decorating cakes to share with everyone. In addition to chauffeuring the Boy Scouts to countless camping trips, she had deep affection for her dogs and stray cats.

Magdeline is survived by her sons, Steven C. Hatfield and Jeffrey A. Hatfield; granddaughter, Megan A. Hatfield; great granddaughter, Paisleigh A. Merritt, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death be her husband of 50 years Thomas W. Hatfield; brother, Robert Buerklin Sr.; father, Robert David Nichols Buerklin and mother Helen Morros Buerklin Hinchey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local pet shelter or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family would like to extend special thanks to all those who volunteered to help out any way they could and Sarah Ruiloba for staying with her on her last days.
