Margaret Monroe Brown was born to Elsia Linnear Monroe and James ’Benny’ Monroe on August 18th, 1929, in Elm Grove, LA. At the age of ten, Margaret accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by Minister C. E. Galloway in August of 1938 at the Water Loo No. I Baptist Church. At the age of eighteen, Margaret followed her oldest sister, Mable, to New Orleans and made the popular city her home.
A few years later, Margaret met Ernest Brown Jr. and on June 3, 1954, Margaret and Ernest married and had 4 children: Annette, Janice, Margaret Ann, and Ernest III.
In September 2005, Margaret and family left New Orleans for Shreveport, LA for temporary shelter from Hurricane Katrina. After an unsuccessful stay in Denver, CO (too cold for her), Margaret relocated to Haughton, LA with her sister Vondia and brother-in-law Sidney. She loved Haughton so much, that she became a faithful member of Galilee Baptist Church. Sister Brown enjoyed the services of her young Pastor, Marvin Vaught and found him very blessed and extremely wise beyond his young age. Margaret remained in Haughton until she became ill and was relocated, for the last time, to Dallas, TX.
