Maria S. Walls

AVINGER, TX – Maria Walls passed away on July 11, 2014 at her home in Avinger, she was 77 years old. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA officiated by Father Karl Daigle. The family will be receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Maria was born on August 15, 1937 on Yap Island, later moving with her family to Guam, Marina Islands. She married her husband, Ralph Walls in November 1969 in Guam. She loved to play bingo and fish.

Maria and family moved to Waterloo, IA in 1970 then to Haughton, LA in 1983. After retirement she and her husband moved to the Lake ‘O Pines in Avinger, TX.

She was preceded in death by her son John M. Walls, parents Enrique Santos and Delores Mendiola, twin sister Maria Q. Santos Ruchuba, sister Adela Santos and Gonzoles Santos.

Maria is survived by her husband of 45 years Ralph Walls of Avinger, TX; son Eddie Santos and wife Elline of Guam, Roy Walls of Avinger, TX, David Walls and wife Kristi of Haughton, LA; daughter Sandra Castillo and husband Ronnie of Pearland, TX; grandchildren Brittney Walls and Jon David Walls of Haughton, LA; sisters Virginia Santos, Anne Witter and Mae Santos; brothers Richard Santos and Roman Santos.

The family would like to thank Tammy, Jessica, Andrea and Tonya of Southern Care Hospice of Longview, TX for their care comfort and the Jefferson Post VFW for their support.
