Marilyn Rose (Harper) Reynolds, 87, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed from this life Sunday, December 11, 2022. Marilyn was born on March 10, 1935 to the union of Alice B. Harper and William Marion Harper in Jena, Louisiana.
Marilyn attended Jena High School and graduated in 1953. She later enjoyed her time as a dance instructor with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio and worked for Justiss-Mears Oil Co. in Jena. She later married Robert E. Reynolds in 1961 after they met in Lake Charles, Louisiana while Robert was working at Chennault AFB. During their marriage, they both moved and lived in several bases around the nation including Grissom AFB, Indiana, Carlswell AFB in Ft. Worth, Texas, Plattsburgh AFB, New York, Pease AFB in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and then finally Barksdale AFB in 1975. While living in Shreveport, Marilyn obtained her real estate license and worked for Don Coleman builders for many years. She was an avid reader, with an extensive home library. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and loved playing blackjack and poker as well. Marilyn was a sparkling gem everywhere she went and never met a stranger.
Those she loved who preceded her in death include: her parents, Alice and Bill Harper; her loving husband, Col. Robert E. Reynolds (USAF); and her brother, Charles E. Harper, Sr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Those left to love and miss her are: her son, David T. Reynolds and wife Sonja of Shreveport, Louisiana; her daughter, Elizabeth Goodrich and husband Tim of Shreveport; her sister, Margie Tam of Baton Rouge; two granddaughters, Caroline and Cameryn Mason of Shreveport; niece Deborah Tam Shivers of Mississippi; and all those around her who remember her spirit.
Funeral services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery on December 17, 2022 at 1:30 p.m, with Bro. Steve Casey presiding.
