Mary Dixon France, age 67, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in Haughton, Louisiana. Mary was born December 25, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Joseph Patrick Dixon, Sr. and Hattie Irene Langford Dixon.
Throughout her life, Mary dedicated herself to helping others, both through her work as a respiratory therapist, in pathology, and in Human Resources at Calumet, and through her service in the Navy Reserves. Yet her greatest pride and deepest happiness came from her family. Mary loved being a wife and mother, and being the mother of her beloved son was her greatest accomplishment and the most treasured role of her life.
Mary found joy in life’s simple pleasures and loved sharing her interests with those around her. She especially treasured making all kinds of crafts with her mother-in-law. Mary had many unique talents, including the remarkable ability to write with both hands, forward and backward. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, creating Christmas glass bricks, watching birds, solving puzzles, and playing card games late into the night and sometimes into the early morning hours. She had a special gift for spreading joy and making those around her smile.
Above all, Mary loved the Lord and found comfort, happiness, and inspiration in music. Her faith, her love for others, and her joyful spirit were an important part of who she was and the legacy she leaves behind.
Mary is survived by husband, Todd France, Sr.; son, Todd France, Jr. and wife Dr. Courtney Page France; brothers, Joseph P. Dixon, Jr. and Jonny H. Dixon and wife Aline; sister Alison Vandenboon and husband Pete; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A special thanks to Marcie Hohnemann, Rozanne Stuteville, and Amy Bloxom for all their help and friendship through this battle, and most of all, DeLaine Stricklin, Mary’s first cousin but she was truly more like a real sister to her. Mary was blessed with the best support system anyone could ever have she was never alone
She was preceded in death in death by her mother, Hattie Irene Langford Dixon; father, Joseph Patrick Dixon, Sr.; brother, Timothy L. Dixon; in-laws, Myron and Norma France; brothers-in-law, Donn, Jonn, and Kent France; niece, Carly Bickham Dixon, and sister-in-law, Joe’s wife Connie Dixon.
