Mary Glover

Mary was raised by her mother alongside her sister, Phyllis Blackwell Graham. When Mary was young, the family moved from El Dorado, Arkansas, to Shreveport, Louisiana, where she attended C. E. Byrd High School. As a young woman, Mary began her banking career with Continental America Bank and later moved to Louisiana Bank. It was through mutual friends in the banking community that she was introduced to Edward Glover.

Mary and Edward married on December 6, 1958. Their marriage spanned nearly 68 years, a remarkable life together built in one home and filled with family, friendships, and countless memories.

When they decided to start having children, Mary decided to leave her banking career and devote herself to being a stay-at-home mom, making her family and home the center of her life. She remained home with her children until they were older, then returned to the workforce and spent a number of years with Dillard's.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Glover; her daughter, Terri Glover (Cile Stokes); and her son, Stephen Glover (Angel Glover). She is also survived by her grandsons, Avery Glover, MD, and Payne Hennigan, PhD.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Dean Blackwell, and her sister, Phyllis Blackwell Graham.

Mary loved her cats, playing dominoes, dining out with friends, and spending time with her children. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome.

Above all, she was an awesome mom whose love, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial on Highway 80 in Red Chute, Louisiana.
